The government of Vietnam promulgated the (TITC) - Decree No. 07/2017 / ND-CP on January 25. This Decree regulated the procedures for pilot issuance of e-visas for foreigners entering Vietnam. Accordingly, the issuance of e-visas will be piloted within  from 1/2/2017 for foreigners who are nationals of 80 countries in Asia, Europe, and the Americas. On December 4th, 2018 six more countries are added to the list of Evisa issuance pilot program.

Foreigners of coming to Vietnam from these 80 countries can use the e-visas to enter and exit Vietnam via 28 border gates, including 8 airports, 13 land border gates, and 7 sea border gates. E-visas are granted through the online.

Who is eligible for an e-Visa?

 Citizens from 80 listed countries can choose to apply for an e-visa for Vietnam. They need to have their passport validity no shorter than 6 months dated from the proposed date of arrival.

How long does it take to obtain an e-Visa?
It takes approximately 05 to 07 business days since the completion of the required document and visa fee submission for your visa application. You will be confirmed and receipted what you have submitted and when the visa is due to send to you.

How long is an e-Visa valid for?
The e-visa is valid for no more than 30 days, those travelers planning to stay in Vietnam longer than 1 month. A Vietnam e-Visa is just valid for one time to enter and exit Vietnam, single entry and it allows you to stay in Vietnam no more than 30 days since the proposed date of arrival. For multiple entries visa and longer stay duration needs, you can request a Vietnam visa om arrival, which enables you to get stamped at the airport in Vietnam when you arrive.

What is the minimum passport expiry date required applying for an e-Visa?
Vietnam Immigration law regulates that your passport must be valid for 6 months the visa expiry date must be at least 30 days before the passport expiry date. Therefore, an e-Visa expiry date must also be at least 30 days before the passport expiry date.

Can a Vietnamese citizen invite or guarantee my stay in Vietnam and apply for an e-Visa on my behalf?
Evisa is issued and sent directly to the person who requests a visa for them or to their sponsor who requests visa on their behalf. The sponsor must be a company or an organization located in Vietnam. An individual in Vietnam is not eligible for requesting a visa for foreigners.
What photos are required for the application?

The required size for the photo is 4x6 cm. The file should be in good condition and size. The photo should be in color and good to view.

What if my name is too long or includes special characters?
Write your full name as it appears in the ICAO line of your passport data page. The Latin letters must be fully input.

Is it necessary to complete all the required information in the application?
Yes. The visa application should be fully completed with the required information. Besides, the info should also be identical to what is in your passport. Otherwise, your Evisa would not be accepted to be eligible for your entry at the Vietnam border.


How much is the e-Visa fee?

To get an Evisa, foreigners pay a one-time fee. The applicable rate for all nations is the same, check the visa details at visa fee page. No further payment is required until you exit Vietnam with the visa.

How can I make a payment for my e-Visa
At the final step of the visa application, you will be offered several payments often, all of them required you to transfer by card or via bank .

If my e-Visa is refused or unused, will my payment be refunded?
No refund is made for the case of being unused or refused. Therefore, before applying for a visa you must consider the plan carefully, and make sure that you are not in the restricted list of Vietnam Immigration. Read more about new regulation on restriction for overstaying Vietnam visa.

Which entry & exit checkpoints accept e-Visa?

With a granted E-Visa for Vietnam, foreigners can enter and exit the country via 28 international checkpoints.

Do I need to enter Vietnam on the exact date specified in my e-Visa application?
You may choose to register the proposed starting date of your visa. It should be the earliest estimated date of your arrival. You will not be allowed to enter Vietnam before this proposed date. You can enter on any date during the validity period of your visa, so it is not compulsory that you enter at the proposed date of arrival in your visa application.

What if I want to enter Vietnam before my e-Visa validity period?
As advised, no permission is for your entry which is on a prior date to the starting date of your visa’s validity. Therefore, in case you had to change your travel plan, and you had to enter Vietnam earlier, you would be recommended to apply for a new Evisa, which is in accordance to your new travel plan. When a new visa request is submitted and approved by the Immigration Department of Vietnam, the old visa will be automatically canceled at the same time.
