Multiple-passport holder travelling To Vietnam

Multiple-passport holder travelling To Vietnam

Question

Hello, I am a US citizen and will be going to Vietnam for two week holiday. I also hold a Russian passport. I am wondering if I could leave USA with USA passport then enter Vietnam with Russian passport? Does Vietnam allow multiple-passport travelers to the country? Thanks!

Answer

The current Vietnam Immigration law allows Russian passport holders to enter Vietnam with fifteen-day visa exemption. Thus, in your case, you should use Russian passport to enter Vietnam. However, if you do so, it is a must that you also use the Russian passport to exit Vietnam. Please also double check to make sure that your passport is valid for at least six months from the date you officially arrive Vietnam.

When leaving and re-entering your country USA, it is advisable for you to use the USA passport.

In case, if you want to use your US passport to enter Vietnam, you should apply for a visa before traveling because US passport holders are required to have a visa. To get a visa easily and quickly on arrival at Vietnam airport, you can request a Vietnam visa approval letter through an agent. By doing so, you can even get one month or three-month visa stamped on arrival at Vietnam airport.
