The Government of Vietnam has just issued Resolution 124 / NQ-CP to supplement the list of countries whose citizens are under piloting e-visa programme. Specifically, the Government has decided to add Appendix I to the list of 6 countries which have been piloted to issue electronic visas as provided for in Clause 1, Article 9 of Decree No. 07/2017 / ND-CP dated January 25, of the Government, stipulating the order and procedures for pilot issuance of electronic visas for foreigners entering Vietnam.

The six additional countries include Australia; United Arab Emirates; Canada; The Republic of India; The Netherlands; and New Zealand.

Previously, The national Decree No. 07/2017 / NĐ-CP stipulated that citizens of 40 countries are piloted to have an electronic visa for Vietnam.

Procedure to get Evisa for Vietnam

1 - Submit electronic visa applications, photos and personal identification pages in a standardized form at Evisa for Vietnam website

2- Receive the electronic file code and pay the visa fee to the account specified in the electronic visa information page. 

Within 3 working days as from the date of fully receiving information on the application for e-visions and visa fees, the Immigration Department of Vietnam shall consider replying the electronic visa applicants.

Foreigners applying for e-visas use the electronic file code to check the results of Vietnam Immigration Department at Electronic Visa Information Website. And finally, use the electronic record code to print the visa.

Important notices:

-       The processing day of an E-visa is 3 business days excluding the confirmation time (if any) in case you are required to re-send the required documents (due to the image quality e.g.)

-       The E-visa is valid for no more than 30 days. Therefore, it is not recommended for people planning to stay in Vietnam longer than 30 days. The extension and the complication of visa extension is the main reason.

Therefore, entry visa (visa to be picked up at Vietnam airport) is the way to get a visa for people who are in rush to get the visa or wish to stay for longer period of 1 month.
