1. How to get visa extended?
Basically, your visa needs to be approved of extension by the Immigration Department of Vietnam. Therefore, your original passport must be submitted to the Immigration office for visa extension processing.
In almost all cases, the sponsor company, i.e. your partner company or a visa agent will request the visa extension on your behalf. The passport need be handed in at the Immigration officer by the expiry date.

In reality, the fine for overstaying Vietnam visa is very high. According to the policy of Vietnam Imigration Department, the minimum fine is 1,250,000 Dong for overstaying situations in less than 5 days duration. More importantly, residing in Vietnam with an expired visa is seen as an illegal action, so all of visitors are highly recommend to not overstay in Vietnam. At present, people who overstay 15 days upward can be marked into the black list and will be disallowed to come back Vietnam in 1-3 years.
