Extending Vietnam visa exemption policy for European citizens

Vietnam extends the visa exemption policy for citizens of five European countries.

The new resolution No. 56/NQ-Cp by Vietnamese government has been issued, in which citizens of the UK, Germany, France, Spain, and Italy will be allowed to enjoy visa exemption for Vietnam. This extension is regulated to be valid until 30 June, 2017.

What purpose of entry is under the exemption policy?

All citizens of those European countries are eligible for visa exemption regardless of the type of passport, immigration purposes, on the basis of fully meet the conditions prescribed by the law of Vietnam.

How long is the exemption period?

The residency with purpose of visiting or travelling around the country by citizens of five above listed countries is limited to 15 days. In case of staying longer, requesting for visa extension is required. However, the extension fee is relatively higher than applying for 30 days or 90 days visa right at the beginning.

Other schuduled residencies lasting more than a half month are still subjected to apply for visa or visa approval letter beforehand.

How to get Vietnam visa exemption?

Travelers holiding passport of the five European countries can easily get the exemption stamp on arrival at Vietnam airports. Double check your passport to be sure that it is at least 6 month valid since the date of entry into Vietnam.

For getting visa with longer validity, submit your application online for visa the approval letter before travelling is a must.

Embassies of Vietnam will set extra visa requirements for citizens of China, India, Midleeast countries, and African countries.
