Question:

 I plan to visit some Asian South East countries including Vietnam. Can I apply for Vietnam from China or another country during my trip?

 

Answer:

China is not in the Vietnam visa exemption list. Therefore, Chinese citizens must have Vietnam visa to depart to Vietnam from China or any otherVietnam visa for China passport holders countries. 1. Vietnam visa requirement for Chinese citizens

Chinese citizens can apply for Vietnam visa to visit Vietnam if you can make sure two following things.

The first is your passport has 6 months validity with at least 2 unused pages

The second is that you has your estimate arrival date. This is very important as you should not enter Vietnam earlier than the arrival date noted in your application form

Vietnam visa online: Vietnam visa online is applied for Chinese people who enter Vietnam by land, sea and airway. Applying for this visa type, you will get a pre-approved Vietnam visa issued by Immigration Department of Vietnam, to get official Vietnam visa you can bring the Vietnam visa approval letter to Vietnam airport (for airway entry) or bring Vietnam visa approval code to Vietnam embassy (for land and sea way entry).

Vietnam embassy visa: applying for Vietnam embassy visa is a traditional way to get Vietnam visa. Vietnam embassy is only recommended for Chinese people who plan to travel to Vietnam by train, ship or bus from some Asian countries such as: China, Laos, and Cambodia. Applying for Vietnam embassy visa, you have to visit Vietnam embassy in person, and then wait there for some working days as your Vietnam visa request will be processed within 5 working days in the minimum.

Regarding purpose of entry, Chinese citizens can apply for Vietnam tourist visa and Vietnam business visa.

Vietnam tourist visa:  Chinese citizens can apply for Vietnam tourist visa with validity length of 1 month or 3 months. Although 3 months Vietnam visa will be granted as business visa, you absolutely can use 3 months visa with purpose of tourist.

Vietnam business visa: the same as tourist Vietnam visa, Vietnam business visa can be issued as 1 month or 3 months visa. However, you should be noted that 1 month is issued as tourist visa automatically. Therefore, you need to note business for purpose of entry in your application form if you want to get 1 month business visa. 

3. Procedure to apply online for Vietnam visa on arrival for Chinese citizen

  • Submit Vietnam visa application online with necessary personal information shown in your passport.

In contract, if you apply for Vietnam visa online, the approval fee is paid to visa agent who assists you to get the pre-approved Vietnam visa, and the stamping fee is paid to immigration officers working at Vietnam airport if you apply for Vietnam visa on arrival, or to officers working at Vietnam embassy if you apply for Vietnam visa approval code.
