Hi, I’m planning to visit Vietnam for few weeks with my wife and my son. We are Uganda nationals. As I know, Uganda adult need to get Vietnam visa to visit your country. However, I’m wondering do Uganda children need visa for Vietnam? Please kindly give me some advice. Many thanks and best regards!

Answer:

Vietnam Immigration law for Uganda states that Uganda citizens of all ages wishing to enter Vietnam for any purpose are required to apply for Vietnam visa. Before applying, applicants should pay attention to Vietnam visa requirement for Uganda children as it is basing on two cases: children share passport with their parents, and children have personal passport.

In case Uganda children have a shared passport with their parent, after submitting visa application for the children, you should scan the first page in shared passport and send to our support email: support@evietnamvisa.com. In addition, in this case, both information of the children, and information of their representation person (mother or father) is also required to submit in a visa application. This information will be sent to Vietnam Immigration Department to process Vietnam visa for the children and their representation person.

Do Uganda children need Visa for Vietnam

In contrast, if Uganda children have their own passport, the procedure and requirement to apply for Vietnam visa for children will be as same as the procedure and visa requirement for adults. What you need to do is to submit  Vietnam visa application online for your children. Then you should follow guidance of the system to complete payment for visa approval fee. The cost of visa for Uganda ranges from USD 240/ person to USD 290/ person depending on each visa type.

Like applying for Vietnam visa for adult, the applicable Vietnam visa types for children include: 1 month single/ multiple entries visa, and 3 month single/ multiple entries visa. For 1 month visa, you can request visa for the children only. However, in case, if you want to apply for 3 month (either single or multiple entries) visa for your children, it is compulsory to submit visa request for adult into same visa application together the children. According to the way to issue pre-approval visa of the Immigration Department, 3 month visa request will be categorized as business visa, and it cannot be issued for alone children.

For normal service, after 3 to 4 working days since completing all visa requirements, applicants will receive Vietnam visa approval letter granted by the Immigration Department that allows you to get Vietnam visa upon your arrival at Vietnam airport.

Currently, you also can get Vietnam visa for Uganda children at Embassy of Vietnam. To get this done, you should prepare visa application, original passport for children and a guarantee letter provide by a company in Vietnam to submit directly to the embassy. In addition, as Vietnam has not set up Embassy in Uganda, to get visa to Vietnam by this method, you should come to Vietnam Embassy in nearest country to submit visa request. Because of these inconveniences, this applying way is not recommended for Uganda citizens. For Uganda citizens in general and Uganda children in particular, getting  on arrival Vietnam visa is the best way to make sure you can get official visa to Vietnam without any original document or going to any Embassy. This visa type is also very convenient, time-saving, and economical.
